Greetings from St Andrews.
Most of you have probably already seen that we were mentioned on Rod Dreher’s blog at The American Conservative. For those of you who have not, here is the link. This has brought us an outpouring of support and encouragement, from both academics and laymen who believe in the kind of work we are doing and share our vision of a renewal of Catholic higher education.
Progress continues apace with The Scholastic preparations to move to Covington. We want to hit the ground running when we arrive, getting to know the diocesan staff and building a relationship there. We are also hoping to start a community garden with some winter crops. And the second volume of The Scholastic is coming together, with the major pieces all planned and many of them already being written. If all goes well it may be possible to publish Volume II at the end of July, but because of my thesis defense and our move, it may have to be delayed until the end of August.
We are also excited to be working with some new “postulants,” who are contemplating a vocation with us. Matt, a Medievalist, is working on a couple of pieces for this issue of the journal, and his wife and their two children are excited to be praying with the Fellowship. Since Mr. Dreher’s article was published, we have also spoken to several other people who have expressed interest, but have not yet taken concrete steps toward joining the Fellowship. We will be praying for all of them in their discernment.
Please be praying for us as Carrie and I look for housing in Covington and try to make a good impression on the Bishop. And please pray that we will find enough work and funding for the Fellowship to grow and progress.
